Job Description

  • School of Pharmacy at Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is offering TWO postdoc positions for 24 months.
  • The project aims to study normal or disease related herb-drug interactions using PK modelling and artificial intelligent technologies.
  • The project will be in collaboration with recognized experts from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CUHK in the field of Big Data Analytics and Natural Language Processing.
  • The candidates will have access to our close-source drug information databases and will be responsible for the development and evaluation of drug related models.

Job Qualifications

  • A doctoral (Ph.D. or equivalent)  degree in applied mathematics,  engineering, (bio)statistics, pharmaceutical sciences,  clinical pharmacology or a related life sciences field.
  • Experience and proven skills in at least one programming language (R, Python, Perl, Java, et al).
  • Experience with NONMEM would be an asset as well as familiarity with common modelling methodologies.
  • A background in basic pharmacology, genetics, pharmacometrics, PBPK and/or systems pharmacology is considered beneficial.
  • Candidates will be assessed for their ability to work as part of the team,  communication skills, track record of publications and demonstrated motivation and passion.

跨界混搭新名词
学科交叉老话题

跨界(crossover)和混搭(mix and match)是当前比较流行的新名词,尤其在其进入互联网以后,被一些大V、名嘴给吹的妇孺皆知,像我等躲在角落搞研究的人,也不能豁免。罗胖子罗歪嘴整天在微信上宣扬下一代的商业模式,其核心就是通过跨界来寻找新的商机,他疯狂的把房子都卖了,以显示其对新的互联网模式的支持。每个人自有其精彩的生活方式,这不是我们关注的重点,只是其提到的跨界概念,在我们药学领域也广泛存在,今天我们就来谈谈药学领域的跨界问题。不过,在药学领域,这个不叫跨界,也不叫混搭,一般称为“学科交叉(inter-discipline)”,可以是用一个学科的技术解决另一个学科的问题,也可以是一个学科的思想启发另一个学科。本质来讲,药学就是学科交叉而来的,比如药物学与化学、物理、计算机等学科的交叉,产生了药物化学、药物分析学、药剂学、药物动力学,药物计量学等,目前,一些新出现的研究领域,更是学科交叉的典范,比如各种组学、网络药理学、计算毒理等。Fig 6

一锅中药惹人愁
寻得关键才无忧

前文讲到由于质谱自身关于化合物精细结构的信息有限,需借助已有标准物质建立裂解规律,才能对同类物质的未知结构进行推断。除了借助标准品的信息,中药中成分间自有的关联信息也非常有用。中药(包括药材和方剂),甚至植物药,中的成分间往往存在某种特定的关系,很少遇到仅是孤零零几个不相关成分的情况,这个特点特别适合于用质谱分析,并且鉴定的时候,不出结果则已,一出结果那就是一大串化合物同时被鉴定了。因此,找到这个一锅粥中的内在联系,将会使我们的质谱分析工作事半功倍。

ADME Pharmacogenetics and Its Impact on Drug–Drug Interactions

Abstract

3.1 Introduction

  • pharmacogenetics的关注重点已由最开始的药物代谢酶(M),扩展到影响ADE的膜转运体
  • Genetic variants not only determine to which extent a drug is metabolized, taken up or excreted by ADME genes, but they also influence the various mechanisms of how two or more drugs interact with the resulting protein.
  • 某些基因型会直接影响the induction potential of a drug; 通常酶活性的基线水平越低,被诱导剂诱导的越高,但如果absent or low baseline activity是null alleles或其他遗传因素导致的话,就可能会出现不诱导的现象;
  • 遗传多态性对药物代谢酶和转运体对drug exposure的影响的研究很多,直到最近才有少数研究者关注是否这些polymorphisms会改变inter individual susceptibility to or the degree of induction or inhibition.
